Let Me Tell You About My Best Friend…

It's My Baby

I bought my first Wrangler, a 2- door  with an extended back, 15 years ago. I fell in love with her immediately. She lasted until I realized that my brood of children and all their various sports equipment just wasn't working well together. I couldn't bear the thought of getting rid of her though.  It was as if fate heard my silent dilemma and decided to help.  In 2007 Jeep came out with the 4-door and I traded my little baby for a bigger one.

She fit me perfectly.  Oh, the kids and all their bags fit nicely too!

I swear I am not materialistic at all! Second-hand clothes are just fine with me. Name brand bags, well I couldn't care at all about them. My favorite jewelry are the pieces my children have given me. I still have and wear a silver-plated pendant my youngest gave me when he was only 8 years old. So, my best friend = material object? It's a Jeep thing!

She has safely lugged me and my family to more games and practices than I can count. Also helped me get the kids to school on time every day no matter the weather. She has brought us home safely from all our trips. And has led us to fun on the beach and into the woods. She has been treated well and in return has been as reliable and consistent as a best friend.

The children have flown the coop and now I am usually her only passenger, although the grandchildren love our summer rides in her. They think she is "cool."

I Don't Know How She Puts Up With Me

Now that I travel much of the year, I count on her more and more. She has brought me safely across this giant country. Everything I need fits with room to spare and there is no place I fear to take her for I know she will take me to and from wherever I wish to go.

I have eaten, slept, laughed, cried, talked out loud to myself in her. I have covered her in dirt and grime, kicked her tires in un-related frustration, and sang off-key as loud as I possibly could in her, and still she loves me.

My journey of traveling has been an awesome experience - she has made it more fun than it ever would be without her - and I expect it will continue to be. I appreciate the fact that I never have to worry when I am with her.

The children may grow up and find their own lives, but I expect she and I will be together for many, many years to come.

Aww! You two are goals. I can’t wait until I get my best friend. I’m still in the process of saving up for one and also getting my license but the very first thing I promise I’ll do with her is listen to music. I’m a small gal so I think I’ll look for something that I feel I can control. But i love this article. Keep it up! And you have an excellent voice as well.

what a beauty! thanks for sharing this! 🙂 wish you a happy long lasting relationship.
