10 Things I Rarely Share

"Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment."

10 Things I Rarely Share About Myself...

  1.  I can out-stubborn anybody I know. This includes toddlers! So helpful a trait for a parent.

  2.  I am hilarious. Sometimes only I see this, but it's true.

  3.  I am anti-social and an introvert. If I tell these facts to people they don't believe me. Alas, it is true.

  4.  Sometimes my eyes fill with happiness water when I am given a good enough hug.

  5.  I don't put my faith in Astrology. But, I am a Gemini and I think that explains my multiple personalities. I  usually blame it on being Boston-Irish or a woman.

  6.  My favorite songwriter and singer is Anne Murray. Though, my favorite playlist is not what you might imagine.

  7.  At times my blood pressure pulls a nose-dive deep enough that everything gets blurred and I get put off-balance. I look like a stumbling drunk and I fall or bang into things. Yes, my doctors know and are trying to  help.

  8.  I like to watch Netflix on my computer, eat peanuts (slightly salted) and have a cocktail while I take bubble  baths.

  9.  I become infuriated when people do not use good manners.

  10.  I can literally go days without speaking to another soul and not realize it until I do talk to someone. See #3

Sure, there's is more that most don't know about myself. But, this is a good start in the journey of self-awareness exercises.

So, Why Am I Sharing?

Let's call it an exercise in self-awareness.

Sigmund Freud is credited with popularizing the notion that people are unaware of the reasons for their actions. According to Freud, social behavior is driven by unconscious forces—motives and desires that are hidden from conscious awareness. And, as much as I love reading Freud's theories, I must disagree with his notion about self-awreness just a bit. I am aware. Unconscious forces exist. But, not all actions or tendencies are driven by them.

Is there something(s) most people don't know about you that you can share? It's okay, this is a safe place free of judgement. 🙂

  1. I loved this post! Except for #6, 7 and 8, I am so right there with you (my bp tends toward high, probably because I’m hot blooded!). I even took one of those tests (Are You an Introvert?) and I scored 100%, but I’m outgoing when I need to be. So funny.

I have forbade myself from drinking in the bathtub because I am very likely to drop the glass and get all cut up. I’m addicted to peanuts so they aren’t allowed in the house!!

    Have a good day! Vicky

    1. They have plastic glasses ya know 🙂 I use a plastic tumbler, just in case with my clumsiness! I tried microwave popcorn a few weeks ago because I was out of peanuts. It just wasn’t the same. Have a great night!
